have your cake and eat it too...two??

This is the second post about our cakes. I promised a post on the chainsaw and "country boy" cake as soon as we finished. so here we go!

This is the infamous chainsaw cake. This was by far the hardest cake we've ever made. It was very tedious (sp?) and detailed. This cake was made specially for my little cousin, Richard. Richard is a unique little fella who is turning 16. What makes Richard different (in a good way) from everyone else in the family is that he is autistic. He is a character--a hoot! He understands just like we do, but he just can't express his thoughts or feelings like we can. One thing Richard loves is chainsaws!! He has his certain appliances that he loves. Weedeaters, blowers, vaccums, and of course CHAINSAWS! He is going to love this cake. I will be surprised if he lets them cut it and eat it. This was made by: Beth, Tiffany, and Tina.

Now this cake is definitely the most unique and personalized cake we've ever made. This cake can only be described in one word: Jonathan. Jonathan is my soon-to-be 22 year old cousin. You can't say he is redneck, hillbilly, country, hick, etc....no, no, no. Those just don't fit. He is countrier than the countriest. He asked, more like demanded, that he have a hunting, chicken coop, pond, rebel flag cake. This is what we came up with and he said it was PERFECT! My aunt T, Tina, is his mom and she said he is like a little kid. He keeps opening the fridge and saying "i can't believe y'all made it like this!" This is what we would classify as a country boy cake. Made by: Beth, Tiffany, and Tina.

I hope you enjoy looking at our cakes. And I will continue to post with our future cakes. I hope this blog takes the cake! ha.

have your cake and eat it too...

Here lately it seems like all I have been doing is helping make cakes. We have made so many birthday cakes this year for family. We (my mom and I) have made an assortment of different cakes. I want to start making them to sell. Momma says no it is just for family. I know they aren't perfect but they are too darn cute and pretty good (if i must say so myself). Since I have never talked about the cakes we make, I thought it would be a good idea to dedicate this blog to the cakes we have made this year.

This cake was made for my brother who just turned 20. He is a very big hunter (family thing) and wanted us to make him a duck hunting cake. This was probably one of the easiest cakes we made, but definitely a big hit amongst hunters and boys of the family. Made by: Beth, Tiffany and Tina (my aunt).

These cupcakes were made for Jessica, Tina's daughter. I hand-decorated every cupcake for her party. Talk about a busy day! I loved doing this for her because she is not just my cousin but like a sister to me--my best friend.

Jessica's 20th birthday cake. This is a two-tiered zebra and pink with polka dots cake. Jessica's is a sassafrass. She wanted zebra and polka dots so this is what we came up with. She loved it and it seemed to be a crowd pleaser. This cake was also made by mom, aunt T, and me.

This is precious Kinsey Rebekah. She wanted a pink and brown polka dot cake. She also wanted her horse from toy story 3 on the cake. Aunt T made the cake and kinsey and hudson (my little brother) decorated it. I stood by to supervise the two little ones. They did great! They were very proud of this cake!!

This is one of my favorite cakes we made. Hudson's 7th party was a cowboy themed party. This is a two-tiered cow patterned, blue bandana cake. We made the haybells out of rice krispy treats and the star (sheriff badge) is a sugar cookie decorated. Made by: Beth, Tiffany and Tina.

This last cake is actually the first cake we ever made. This was my 21st birthday cake. I wanted a 3 tiered zebra and pink cake with a black bow. Mom, my other aunt, Teresa, cousin Lexi, and I made this cake. This was by far the hardest and lengthy (time wise) cake we have ever done. Of course, mine would be the most difficult. It of course is my favorite of all the cakes (probably a bit biased). I had a big 21st birthday bash with around 100 people at my party. This cake fed everyone. We also had cupcakes for back up. This cake made my birthday etra special for me.

Today we have to make a "country boy" theme cake and a chainsaw cake. These are probably going to be the most different and most detailed cakes we will make so far. I will be sure to upload the pics as soon as we get them finished. I am nervouse about these two cakes. Say a little pray that everything turns out right. Until later, remember it is okay to have your cake and eat it too!!

life since my last post.

Summer's over! Well not officially until the 21st (i know), but when school starts back and we have labor day, to me, summer's over. It is sad to say, but i'm ready for fall! Fall is by far my favorite time of year. I love college football. GO BIG ORANGE (for now, i'll explain later). I love hunting. Deer season for bow hunting opens in a few weeks. We also took a family vacation to st. louis for the labor day weekend and to see the cardinals play some ball!

St. louis was a blast! We got to do so many different activities for the boys and they loved it! My oldest brother, Tyler, didn't get to come. He chose to go to pickwick on a TN river run! ha. So it was just me, momma, daddy, hunter and hudson.

Here we are at the St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. If you know my family, you know we are very much a "baseball" family. All my brothers play or have played baseball since t-ball. They love it. And we love to watch it. It is by far my favorite sport to watch. Although our cards lost this game, they won the 3-game series so we were still pleased. GO CARDS!

This is the family at Pujols 5. This is Albert Pujols' (plays for the cardinals) restaurant. We are holding his ESPY award. Well actually, i'm holding it and refused to let go of it. ha! I felt honored to hold such an award that was his. Oh and the food was great! I would recommend his place to anyone who is going to St. Louis.

We also went to the zoo in st. louis on sunday. it's a free zoo! how awesome, but how crowded! It was a great day to be at the zoo--absolutely perfect weather! All in all it was a good experience (even if we did wait an hour and a half to park. yes that's right!)

Last, but not least, we went to the mall....SHOPPING! ha. I'm not much of a shopper, but i love outdoor stores and buying baby caysen adily stuff. We went to the mills mall in st. louis which is sort of like the mills in nashville. they had a CABELA'S!

Here we are enjoying "the other bass pro shop." It was so awesome inside. Yes, we went to other stores shopping. My mom and I went to every baby store looking for Caysen. Caysen is going to be my first little niece! I'm going to be an aunt for the first time and i'm so excited! Caysen adily is due on Christmas day. She is going to be spoiled rotten. I got her three outfits and some accessories and mom got her three outfits. and that was just one shopping trip. ha! I can't wait for her to get her. She is going to love auntie T!

Well this is my update since my last post. Now that school has started back (senior year) i will be blogging more. Y'all be sure to watch for more.

oh nothing's sweeter than summertime...and american honey

"But godliness with contentment is great gain."
1 Timothy 6:6

When you think summer, you think happiness, laughter, love, and a good tan. No season is more anticipated than summer. And now that it's here, it's like the greatest (but busiest) time of the year. This summer I have been on three vacation trips (with atleast 2 more to come), to 50+ baseball games, and to Chuck E. Cheese twice. Oh yes, that's right!

To "kick off" the summer, Nyssa (one of my closest friends from my childhood) and I went to Augusta, GA for a mini vacation. This trip was completely spontaneous and wonderful.

We had an amazing time while in Georgia. We went to a church revival which was unbelievable. There were no words to explain how God moved amongst this small church. It was such an honor to be part of such a meeting. Nyssa and I also got to visit some of my family that lives in North Augusta. We had a blast for the three day sudden trip that we planned (actually we didn't plan.)

A few weeks later, my paw paw and I made the same 9 hour trip back to North Augusta to visit the family again. I love it there!! It is like home away from home.

The latest trip, which was last weekend, was absolutely one of the most rewarding and hilarious trips I have ever been on. My college and career class from church and I went to Hot Springs, AR. The trip started off right by some of our caravan getting lost. Oh wow!! talk about memories made. So our 3 hour trip turned into a 5 & 1/2 hour journey. But we got to our hotel and all was well. We stayed up late that night in the lobby talking and fellowshipping with one another. The unity amongst our group is outstanding. It is like something I have never seen. I am not sure if it is because we are all older and more mature now or what. But it was like the high school labels of being a prep or jock or a geek or loner was completely gone. The geeks were sitting with the jocks and the preps were having a blast with the loners. It was like nothing I have ever seen. We have prayed for great unity amongst our class ever since our new teachers (who happens to be my cousin and his wife) took over a few months ago. I love it!! Saturday morning we got up and went to Magic Springs, a waterpark in Hot Springs.

The waterpark/amusement park was absolutely wonderful. Our group stayed together the entire time. Every ride we were there together. There were some who were completely fearless and rode every ride. And there were those of us who rode almost everything or we were "wavers." We stayed at the park a good 6 hours then went out for mexican food that night. A class favorite. We always end up at a mexican restaurant!! Yummy!! The next morning we went to Gospel Light Baptist Church in downtown Hot Springs. It is the church our Pastor's brother pastors (kinda confusing). But the service was great and Bro. Eric Capaci brought a wonderful message on "Life."

All in all the trip was great and the ride home wasn't so bad. No one got lost. Thank goodness!! After we got home, I got to thinking about how blessed I am to be part of such a godly, unified, fun, and unique group of young people. We have really became close and I feel like we are all brothers and sisters. and we are!! in Christ of course. It's a feeling of trust and honesty among these friends, this family. We pray for each other. We laugh with each other. We laugh AT each other. We share thoughts and secrets, concerns and cares, promises and plans. But we share God. and that is most important. We are praying for growth and more unity in our class. I know God is going to bless us with that each step of the way.

ole miss, easter, school, and fishing

My titlesays it all! i have been soo busy lately, but nothing to overwhelming. my first and probably one of the most exciting things is: i went to oxford for this first time in my life! now, this may come as a surprise considering i live 1 1/2 hours away and i love college sports! a lot of sporting events take place at ole miss and i have never in my 21 years attended a single game or event there. well anyways, i was invited by one of my wonderful friends from church, Mrs. Bobbie Bell, who i adore!

She invited me to come along with her and her adorable little family whom i LOVE! The ole miss baseball team was playing Tennessee and this was very exciting for me, because one of my childhood friends, Blake Forsythe, plays for Tennessee. I was so glad I finally got to see him play live in a college game before he goes to the majors next year! Way to go Blake!!

Ok so as you all know, Easter was Sunday! Surprised, right? I absolutely enjoyed my easter as always. i love the fact that even though i am 21, the easter bunny still comes and brings goodies for me. Lots of candy, the movie NEW MOON, and yellow nail polish, hair accessories, two t-shirts and some chanel earrings! i just love the easter bunny or momma, however you look at it. We did a yellow theme for the family. everything was yellow. my idea of course :) the boys polos we yellow or had yellow in them my dress had yellow and mom wore the most adorable yellow cardigan over her balck and white dress. oh and taylor, tyler's girlfriend also wore yellow to match the rest of us. it was adorable. maybe next year we will do a pink theme. let's see how that plays out with they boys of the family :) So school is almost over and that is quite overwhelming for me. i have 4 weeks left and 13 actual school days. i love my school and love my major but i am going to be a senior and i can't wait!

Last but definitely not least, fishing season is finally here!! woo hoo!! I love fishing!! I finally caught my first fish yesterday. My 3 brothers and myself went fishing, pond hopping, for a few hours yesterday. We all caught a fish and it was so exciting and fun. I enjoyspending time with my little brothers and yesterday was just one of those siblings-get-along-for-the-most-part type of days. It was such a nice day to be outside and an even greater day to be fishing. I can't wait to go again. I just love fishing especially with my cute pink pole :)

super blonde and spring break

i'm so glad to be able to stop in for a minute to blog about my life the past week. oh where to start, let's see. oh yeah, i am on spring break!! woo hoo!! although i am not on some beach somewhere, i am enjoying my break from school. however, i do get to go to south carolina. i love it there!! i am leaving in the morning ( i really should be packing, but you know how that goes). anyways, my cousins live there and i love to go visit and spend time with them. They go to this really awesome church-- Victory Baptist Church in North Augusta. I'm always so blessed when I go there. God is all over that place and the people there. It's like home away from home for me. so as you can see i am very excited about going to SC. enough about my future days, i haven't been on here in a week-shame on me. so here are some things that have went on this week:

1. I am on spring break (oh did i mention that already?)
2. The weather was beautiful this past weekend in Memphis. I mean perfect weather especially for memphis. i loved it!!
3. I went to the flea market. oh, i LOVE the flea market!! it was so much fun and i bought a few items including my cute teacher shirt, although i'm not a teacher yet.
4. i got my hair colored again, finally. It's super blonde and i love love love it, of course. I have been letting my friend samantha do my hair for the past few months, because she just got her license. I'm so proud of her!! anyways, i'm sorta her guinea pig for hair. i let her do whatever (besides cut it, i like my length right now). she did awesome like always. She also colored my mom's hair blonde. My mom is not quite used to it, but i adore it. it looks fabulous. Thanks samantha carol!!
5. i had a girl's night last night!! Me and three of my dearest friends got together for a cookout and riding around like teenagers again with the windows down and the radio blaring. It was hysterical and loads of fun. i can't wait to do it again!!

well anyways that's my catch-me-up blog and i will be sure to blog about SC while i'm there. i can't wait!!

oh tuesday...

Being a college student, you always have certain days that are dreaded. And it's always the same day, my day is Tuesday. Oh, Tuesdays how you are going to be the death of me (a little dramatic? maybe) But here is why i dislike Tuesdays:

1. I have class from 11:20 in the morning to 8 at night. I know, I know, I chose my own schedule and regret this one. Oh Tuesday, how I don't enjoy you.

2. All my teachers, on Tuesdays, tend not to teach. Even though it's their job, I guess they feel it is easier to just read from a powerpoint or randomly flip through the book and say "blah blah" the entire time--true story.

3. Monday is my off day so Tuesdays are really like my own personal Mondays.

4. Also for the past few Monday nights, Bachelor is on. Oh Bachelor Mondays how you make me procrastinate my Tuesday work. Speaking of Bachelor, I am higly disappointed!! Jake how could you choose Vienna Sausage?? REALLY??
Tenley was such an amazingly sweet, adorable girl and would have been your better choice. But you were right, she is pretty perfect and deserves better than you. I hope you enjoy your pick, but I doubt you will.

5. Also, Biggest Loser comes on Tuesday nights. I love Biggest Loser!! I'm a major reality show junkie, if you couldn't already tell. But I never get to watch Biggest Loser, because I am in class learning how to teach (future teacher, woohoo) from a teacher who doesn't teach, OH BLISS!!

As you can see, I am not a fan of Tuesdays, for this semester anyways. Note to self: Choose a better schedule next semester.

Anyways, I am supposed to be studying for a quiz so I'm going to go skim some notes. Enjoy your Tuesday while I wait for Wednesday.
